We love what we do, and we have an incredible passion to further students’ academic success so they can be the rock stars they dream to be, and to increase the graduation rate in New Mexico. Katja Klosterman

Program Coordinator

Katja grew up in Albuquerque, NM. Following her graduation from V. Sue Cleveland High School in 2016, Katja moved to Arizona to study Biochemistry at Arizona State University. She learned the ins and outs of the different sectors of service through the Next Generation Service Corps. Aside from building her tools in biomedical research, Katja has served in various leadership roles with local nonprofits in Arizona and New Mexico. Upon graduating summa cum laude with a B.S. in 2019, Katja returned to the Land of Enchantment to begin researching at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Katja began volunteering with Ignited Minds in 2021 as a tutor to local students needing assistance with chemistry, geometry, and SAT prep. During this time, Katja moved to the Czech Republic to conduct Alzheimer’s disease research as a Fulbright Scholar.

Katja will serve as the Ignited Minds Program Coordinator for the upcoming year. She is excited to expand the Ignited Minds impact to address the multi-dimensional factors that stem from barriers in education.

Jenna Viscaya

Grant Writer

One of Ignited Minds’ tutors in language arts since 2020, Jenna started writing grants for us in 2021. Starting her career path with a BA in English and Philosophy, Jenna holds two Masters degrees, one in Oriental Medicine and one in Counseling. She was a professor and doctor of Oriental Medicine for thirty years. She also practiced as a psychotherapist for ten years. Jenna has published poetry, creative nonfiction, and news articles. Now retired, she enjoys being outdoors with her dogs and husband as well as world travel with her daughter.

Liv Turner, JD

Chief Executive Officer

Liv adopted Santa Fe as her forever home after retiring from 20 years of public service in California. With her husband, David Maestas Esq., who is a Santefecino, they relocated their teenage son, a USA swimmer attending a Santa Fe charter performing arts school, Liv’s mother, and their standard poodle Chica to Santa Fe from Sacramento, California. Liv and David also have a Purple Heart Veteran son, Zack and their granddaughter Reagan Grey. Liv earned her BA in English Literature from U.C. Berkeley and Juris Doctorate from J.F.K. Law School. David retired as Assistant General Counsel from Batelle nonprofit with a specialty in employment and labor relations. During the non-COVID crisis, Liv and David keep busy with traveling, gardening and staying fit. David dreams of traveling and Liv dreams of riding horses.
